Case update
30 - 11 - 2022
After seven long hours, Laith’s first operation was a success!

On Monday, 28/11/2022, Laith was admitted to the Specialty Hospital for surgery on his left leg. The operation was not easy, and the doctor found two major findings in the bones: the previous fracture was not healed - and secondly it had acute and chronic inflammation. This means that the blood does not reach the bone and is therefore dead and dried - and as a result, the inflammation formed.

The specialist doctor cleaned the abscess (inflammation) completely and removed a large part of the dead bone which was 5 cm from the leg bone. The first process of the operation is the most difficult stage of Laith’s treatment - aimed at fighting inflammation in the bone (and thankfully the inflammation had not yet reached the knee). This included bone grafting, a course of antibiotics, as well as an external fixation (Ilizarov apparatus).

Laith's leg also showed very strong bacteria presence, and as a result, further consultation was requested from an Orthopedist to set a treatment plan; prescribing antibiotics for two to three months (which is the first phase only). As a result of this strong bacteria, Laith was moved into an isolation room - as not to infect others with this bacteria.

Currently, Laith needs rest and follow-up care until the inflammation is completely eliminated, and only after this will the second stage of his treatment commence. Despite post-operative pain, Laith feels more at ease and is in a better state by God's grace because his leg was not amputated.

"In the name of God, the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy.

Those who do not give thanks to people, also don’t give thanks to God. Therefore, I thank God, the Healer, as well as the donors who supported me with a helping hand and stood by my side. May all of their worries be at ease.. And may their obstacles be leveled.. And may they be granted endless blessings." ~ Laith
