LAITH’S STORY
Laith, 37 years old, has gone through one of the most difficult health journeys imaginable. Over the years, he has undergone three major surgeries, in addition to two emergency procedures due to complications during surgery. His most recent operation took place on 5/6/2023. During that surgery, the infection in his foot was completely cleaned, and an Ilizarov device was installed to lengthen the bone by 10 cm that he had lost during previous operations.
From that date until today, nearly two years and seven months, Laith has endured a harsh and prolonged treatment phase filled with pain, patience, and waiting, moving between medical follow-ups and recovery attempts, while holding on to hope that he will fully regain his ability to move normally.
Today, Laith faces a new challenge: the need for a fourth surgical operation. This procedure is essential to stabilize foot drop, which hinders his movement and prevents him from walking properly. The surgery includes transferring the lateral tendon and lengthening the posterior tendon, a crucial step toward improving his mobility and giving him a real chance to return to a more independent life.
