MUMEN’S STORY

Mumen, aged 1.5 years old, began his journey at the age of six months due to severe dehydration that landed him in the intensive care unit for several days. Subsequent testing revealed severe sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) in both ears.

Children go through specific stages to acquire language, starting from the preverbal stage, then the babbling stage, followed by the language stage, where language develops gradually from single words to sentences. Mumen is currently in the preverbal stage, where his parents struggle to communicate with him as they must be very close to him and raise their voices for him to interact.

Providing hearing aids for Mumen is essential for him to hear, acquire language, and interact with those around him. The sooner he receives them, the better his language development will be compared to his peers.
