Case description

AMOUNT NEEDED - JOD 294 for 4 months

Sabri is currently a year and a half old and suffers from stiffness and two holes in his heart, as well as a rare genetic disease called phenylketonuria (PKU), in which he cannot digest the amino acid phenylalanine. As a result, he cannot eat anything that contains protein, and therefore Sabri needs special foods that include milk, flour and other protein-free foods such as wafers, biscuits, chocolate spread, etc.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Unfortunately, Sabri’s family insurance does not provide him with many expensive food alternatives, but with your help, his family will be able to secure his monthly needs of special foods and manage his condition as Sabri is in a growth spurt, and securing food that suits his special needs will help him grow stronger.

Helping Sabri’s parents in this second campaign will hopefully ease their burden during the next four months, until they are able to secure their child's food supplies from another party after that.

Sabri’s STORY

Sabri’s rare hereditary disease is called Phenylketonuria (PKU), which is a congenital error of metabolism that results in decreased metabolism of the amino acid phenylalanine. If left untreated, PKU can lead to intellectual disability, seizures, behavioral problems, and mental disorders. It may also result in a musty smell and lighter skin. Sabri’s mom also struggles with her health, and cares for Sabri’s sister who has a heart condition and two openings and stiffness in the heart.

Sabri's father receives a daily wage from his daily work, which is barely enough to provide for the basic daily needs of his family, and he suffers from severe visual impairment to the extent that he does not see in one of his eyes as well as severe inflammation in his teeth.
