Lahtha Has Ongoing Medical Issues. She Needs Your Support to Continue Her Physical Therapy and Iron Injections
The story of Lahtha:
The Tadamon community continues to support Lahtha’s strength and persistence in the face of medical hardships despite all the obstacles. Lahtha is a cancer survivor with whom we worked to provide medical support in Q1 of 2022. Through the generous contributions made by our donors, we were able to raise 865 JOD that covered her iron injections, B12 injections, physiotherapy sessions, and a number of blood tests. Lahtha is courageously forging her way back to recovery but she still needs your help and support to tackle ongoing medical issues and improve the quality of her everyday life!
Where Lahtha is at Now:
Lahtha committed to her 30 physiological sessions, she is feeling better and able to stand and walk more steadily. Yet, she now needs another round of physical therapy.
Lahtha has been taking her iron supplements as well, and she is feeling much better and able to breathe easier, but she will need more iron going forward.
As a means to monitor the clots in her brain, Lahtha will need additional brain doctor appointments.
After conducting several blood tests, it was determined that Lahtha will no longer be needing B12 injections.
Moving Forward:
To continue Lahtha’s treatment and sustain the various aspects of improvements she had over the past couple of months, we need to raise an amount of 764 JOD that will be utilized as follows:
Iron injections
- Pack Price: 24 packs for 3 months at 17 JOD a pack, totaling 408 JOD.
- Injection Price: 13 injections at 3 JOD an injection, totaling 40 JOD.
Physiotherapy sessions for her legs
- Unit price: 7.85 JOD per session as a discounted price from the physician.
- Total price: 28 sessions over a month totaling 220 JOD.
Brain Doctor Appointments
Three monthly appointments which consists of the following per month:
- Doctor examination fees at 17 JOD each.
- Round trip transportation to the appointment at 10 JOD each trip.
- Medication after the appointment at 5 JOD each month.
—> totaling 96 JOD.
Medical History:
Lahtha is a 48 year old woman who lives alone with no relatives as her immediate family members (parents & one brother) passed away due to a variety of medical conditions, and therefore she lacks a social support network.
In the aftermath of surviving cancer, Lahtha still suffers from a number of medical conditions that are seriously hindering her ability to function normally and are causing her much distress and pain.
Firstly, Lahtha has a stomach infection that results in the malabsorption of certain nutrients in the body, most importantly iron, and she therefore suffers from very low concentration of iron in her blood - in addition to hypotension, which makes her fatigued and causes problems with breathing.
Secondly, Lahtha underwent MRI imaging which revealed spots in her brain which cause cerebral blood clots due to shortage of oxygen arriving to the brain. This condition makes Lahtha dizzy and seriously hinders her movement and ability to walk on her own.
To make matters worse, Lahtha injured her leg a few years back and delayed the required physiotherapy sessions which worsened her condition, leading her to undergo a surgery which unfortunately was unsuccessful. As a result, Lahtha hops on one leg to move now.
