IBRAHEEM’S STORY

Ibraheem, 58 years old, was born with ichthyosis, a skin disorder that causes severe dryness and constant scaling of the skin. Although its appearance can be painful to look at, the disease is not contagious. Ibraheem has lived his entire life coping with this condition, accepting God’s will with patience and never allowing the illness to stand in the way of his life or dreams.

As he grew older, Ibraheem got married and was blessed with two sons. He was determined to provide them with a dignified life and a good education. Working from a small cart selling simple goods on the street, and through daily effort, determination, and the support of kind people, he managed to educate his children, who have now reached university, an achievement he is deeply proud of despite all the challenges.

Twelve years ago, his health condition worsened. Severe skin dryness caused painful cracks around his joints, making walking extremely difficult. Over time, he became unable to stand or move his feet normally and was forced to rely on a wheelchair, marking the beginning of a new hardship no less painful than the disease itself.

Today, Ibraheem faces harsh looks from people in the street and repeated refusals from bus drivers to transport him to the place where he sets up his modest cart. As if the illness had not caused enough physical pain, it has imposed a cruel form of social isolation as well.

Ibraheem relies entirely on continuous, lifelong use of moisturizing creams, the only treatment that helps reduce severe dryness and prevent his condition from worsening. These medical supplies place an ongoing financial burden on him, yet they are essential for him to continue living with his illness.

Ibraheem’s story is not merely one of disease, but a story of patience, dignity, and perseverance of a father who refused to let pain break his will or illness strip him of his right to life, work, and hope.
