Basma needs an operation to remove a protruding bone in her foot. The operation is simple. The big toe will be adjusted and the protruding bone and inflammation will be removed.
BASMA’S STORY
Basma, 22 years old, studies and works to support her family of four. The simple income that Basma receives as a university student who has not yet graduated is not enough to cover the family's monthly needs and expenses.
Basma needs an operation to correct her foot because of an inherited congenital deformity, as there is an outer bone in each of her feet. The bone is more prominent in the right foot in the big toe, and with growth it became big, and as a result, the second toe became higher than the big toe. The smaller toes turned in a deviation towards the big toe, and this will increase with time. There is also roughness and inflammation in the bone.
Due to the poor financial situation, the issue was neglected from childhood, until Basma became a young woman studying at the university, and her problem became in the way of her practical life. This is because she could not stand for a long time, which affected her back, which means she constantly is in pain, and also did not find suitable and comfortable shoes because of the deformity in her feet. Basma cannot wear open shoes because of this issue.
