HEYAM’S STORY

In her first campaign, Tadamon purchased an electric wheelchair for Heyam which helped her manage her daily movements inside and outside her house. Since Heyam remains sitting on her electric wheelchair around the clock with no walking abilities, the fluids are retained in both of her legs, causing her legs to swell and bloat, and putting her at a later risk of atherosclerosis (stiffened arteries and blood vessels).

Acquiring the limb pressotherapy device will help her redistribute fluids throughout her body and prevent fluid retention.

How this happened to Heyam:

When Heyam got married, she painted in her imagination a happy life with her spouse, in which she builds a family and has children who would bring joy to their lives.

However life does not always go as planned! Life threw difficulties at Heyam when she gave birth to her second son. She developed weakness in her lower extremities and lost her ability to balance. As her condition deteriorated, Heyam fell and broke her leg. Several tests were conducted but no specific reason was found.

She was unable to walk or stand on her own after the accident that caused her to break her bones. Her physician requested an MRI of the spine and brain; it was found that she had atrophy in her legs: a vague and extremely rare condition with no recognized causes.

Despite going through a painful and traumatic ordeal, Heyam has, by God's grace, put those difficult times behind her and moved on with the help of her husband. Now she is able to be the role model for her children that she has always wanted to be and hopes they will follow her lead in life.
