MAHMOUD’S STORY
Mahmoud, 48 years old, is the head of a family consisting of five members. However, he had to stop working due to a permanent disability, with a disability rate exceeding 75%, resulting from an incident several years ago when he was diagnosed with severe epilepsy (a neurological disorder characterized by abnormal electrical activity throughout the brain).
Mahmoud spent years of his life in daily struggle, working as a casual laborer in construction to provide for his mother and siblings. After getting married, the burden increased as he became the sole provider for his wife and children as well. He tried his best to ensure a decent living for all of them. However, life became more challenging for him after being diagnosed with severe epilepsy, which greatly affected his daily life.
He resides in a small, old house he built himself in a very impoverished area, considered among the least fortunate. The house, made of bricks and covered with zinc roof, consists of two rooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom. However, it lacks basic necessities for a decent life.
