Support Raghad with Down’s Syndrome in special education. Allow her to continue excelling at school by covering her second semester.
Raghad is 15 years old with three older siblings, who do not provide any financial assistance to the family, as well as a younger one in school. She suffers from a mild mental disability classified as Down's syndrome.
Raghad enrolled at Bunayat Centre for Special Education in 2018, only to leave shortly thereafter as the family could not afford the tuition fees.
As a determined student, Raghad showed remarkable progress in both academic and social areas. She loves drawing, coloring, and solving puzzle games, and also responds well to the instructions given by the teacher. Furthermore, she loves to participate in all sorts of activities, both in and out of the center.
Bunayat Center offers three educational sections based on age:
- Preschool: 6 to 11 years old
- School: 12 to 17 years old
- Vocational: 18 to 30 years old
There are no grades for the above mentioned sections. Rather, the students continue to learn new skills and activities according to each student’s own pace / learning curve.
Raghad’s 57-year-old father owns a small shop that sells hygienic products. However, the income for the store is only around JD 250 monthly, leaving the family in a very tough financial situation for the past two years. They have also been paying mortgage payments of JD 300 on a monthly basis for their home, which they now effectively own as of December 2021.
Nevertheless, Raghad needs our support to enable her to continue drawing, coloring and solving puzzles. After all, educating individuals with Down syndrome can boost their lifespan and overall well-being. We aim to receive donations of JD 1,450 to cover the second semester fees (from February to August), which amount to JD 250 for transportation and JD 1,200 for education.
