SALWA’S STORY
Salwa, 58 years old, is a mother of two daughters. The older is 29 and the younger is 21. Twenty years ago, she lost her husband to a sudden stroke, leaving her unexpectedly with a responsibility she never imagined carrying alone. From that moment, her life changed completely, and she became the mother, father, caregiver, and provider all at once.
Despite the pain in her heart, she never allowed grief to break her. She dedicated herself to raising her daughters and ensuring they grew up with values of patience and self-reliance. She often hid her exhaustion behind a smile and postponed her own needs to provide whatever she could for their small home.
Today, the family survives on a very limited income that does not exceed 200 JOD per month, barely enough to cover basic expenses such as rent, bills, and food. Her daughters are currently unemployed, and despite their efforts to find suitable work, opportunities have not yet opened for them.
Salwa manages her household with great care, saving wherever possible just to keep going. Despite the lack of resources, she has never lost faith that Allah will not let her efforts go in vain, and that the coming days may bring relief.
Salwa’s story is the story of a dignified and patient mother who has carried the burdens of life in silence. For twenty years, she has struggled to ensure safety and stability for her daughters, while still hoping for a chance that will change their circumstances and bring them some peace after many years of hardship.
