Case description

How can you help?

Ameer needs help in covering the cost of an inhaler (Symbicort) that can aid in opening up his bronchi, improving his ability to breathe. He also needs a fan to reduce his sweating, therefore reducing the abrasions and ulcers that develop on his body.

Ameer is a single father of three young children. He is completely paralyzed after suffering an unfortunate accident as a result of an electric shock while on the job, so he hasn’t been able to work since then, which is terribly affecting his three little children.  Ameer struggles with even the necessities for his 3 little ones, so let us help him secure some essentials for their education!

AMOUNT NEEDED - JOD 940

Ameer needs JOD 940 that will help provide some school basics for his children and two other children in his family, as well as maintain his health during the coming period. The following is a breakdown of the amount:

  • Inhaler (Symbicort): 6 inhalers for 3 months, for JOD 105.
  • Demoren (nebulizer solution): 30 for one month, for JOD 177.
  • Combivent: 1.5 for one month, for JOD 12.
  • One fan for JOD 30.

As for the 5 children, they need:

  • 2 school uniforms for JOD 20.
  • 5 school bags for JOD 25.
  • Stationery for all five children for JOD 25.
  • 3 months of transportation for the five children for JOD 240.
  • Clothes for all 5 children for JOD 150.
  • Eye doctor appointments for one of the little girls and prescription glasses for JOD 156.

AMEER’s STORY

Ameer is a 30 year old young man who is fully paralyzed and is the single parent to three children. Ameer used to install public signages for events as a daily-paid job. In an unfortunate incident in 2013, Ameer suffered an electric shock on the job and was immediately moved to the intensive care unit (ICU). Ameer became temporarily paralyzed in light of the incident, but with intensive treatment, he returned back to normal after two years in 2015. He worked as a sanitary engineer (street sweeper) in the following years and was able to provide for his family.

Yet, in Summer of 2021, the neurological ramifications of Ameer’s previous incident started to reappear. Ameer had a seizure that was so strong it left him completely paralyzed and unable to move or speak - also causing serious damage to his cognitive functions. Since then, Ameer needs to be monitored 24/7 for his vitals and taken care of for his feeding and bathroom needs.

Jamila, Ameer’s mother, is a 58 year old lady who works in house cleaning. After Ameer got paralyzed, she stopped working and took him in along with his children - where they all now live in a small, humble home.

Even when she was working, Jamila could hardly make ends meet with the bare minimum wage she made. Her husband, Ameer’s father, suffers from schizophrenia and other serious neurological issues and hence is unable to work. Jamila is now the single caretaker of a household of 8, including: her husband, Ameer, Ameer’s 2 siblings, and Ameer’s 3 children. As a consequence, Ameer’s mother is shouldering a huge financial burden with virtually little to no income.
