NAHEEL’S STORY
Naheel, 49 years old, lives with her family of seven. She has always been an active and energetic person, filling her home with movement and life, caring for her family members and taking part in their daily affairs. However, her life changed seventeen years ago when she was diagnosed with diabetes, which gradually began to impose limitations she was not used to.
Over time, she started experiencing constant fatigue and occasional pain in her feet, but she grew accustomed to ignoring it, believing it to be part of everyday life. Recently, something unexpected happened: she injured her leg without realizing it due to loss of sensation caused by diabetes. Unfortunately, the wound was not treated in time, which led to infection and a worsening of her condition. After medical consultations, clinical examinations and imaging revealed that her right ankle was affected by an abscess and bone infection, explaining the severe pain and persistent exhaustion she has been suffering from.
Doctors recommended a surgical procedure to clean the infection and remove the affected bone, as well as take samples to identify the type of infection, followed by a six-week course of appropriate antibiotic treatment.
Despite the pain and emotional strain, Naheel has remained strong, holding on to hope and looking toward a better future, one in which she can return to her normal life, care for her family with her usual energy, and regain the joy of life that illness has temporarily taken from her.
