ROAA’S STORY
Rouaa, 22, is the eldest of six members of her family. Her father was a barber but he had a traffic accident and suffered a broken leg, after that he suffered two other fractures in his foot and his health worsened. The fracture site was in the former area of the accident, resulting in a 75% disability. He could no longer work.
Medicine was the first and last choice for Roa’a to study. So, she did her best in high school to get a high average to enable her to achieve her dream, and she actually managed to get an average of 96.4% in 2021. She also excelled in obtaining a scholarship from a charity.
She registered directly at Hashemite University, majoring in medicine, and now she is completing her second year with an GPA of 3, passing 167 hours of study leaving her with 90 hours at a cost of 85 JOD.
Despite the difficult financial situation her family faces - beyond her father's ability to cover the exorbitant costs of his daughter's medical specialization - this was no barrier to standing up to Rouaa's dream of ever achieving herself. Roa’a wishes, after completing her six years of studying in the general medicine specialty, to become a specialist in internal medicine. Her primary goal is to improve her family's financial status, as they have done for her. She also wants to help disadvantaged people, especially those who need treatment at reduced costs, because they know well that treatment is very expensive, and this is a basic right every citizen should have.
