JUDE’S STORY
Jude is a 3-year-old girl, the cherished youngest among her siblings and family members. She was born healthy, but it later became apparent, for reasons unknown and unrelated to any hereditary condition, that Jude was experiencing severe hearing loss.
The situation took a turn, and her parents embarked on a journey for her treatment. A cochlear implant surgery was deemed necessary, and it was successfully performed in September 2023 to restore Jude's hearing. Following the surgery, she entered a phase of auditory rehabilitation at the Khutuwat Center, where she receives one session per week. While this might not be sufficient, her parents are doing their best within their financial means.
According to the center's report, Jude has a significant opportunity to develop understanding and speech through auditory rehabilitation, provided she continues the treatment for a full year.
Failure to enroll Jude in the center could result in language acquisition challenges, hampering the development of cognitive, communication, and self-confidence skills. Additionally, she may experience speech and language disorders, coupled with severe delays in cognitive development that are not commensurate with her age.
