MIRA’S STORY
Mira, 10, lives with her mother and sister. At 3 years old, Mira was constantly tired, refusing food and drink, and constantly having to use the bathroom. She was eventually admitted to the ICU where she remained for 10 days. Extensive lab results revealed she suffered from Type I Diabetes which requires insulin. Mira’s troubles with injections began.
The little girl’s fingers could not bear the prickings from the 12 daily needles and eventually, no blood could be drawn from her fingers. Additionally, she was missing a lot of school days and her mother had to take time off from work to care for her. The reduced income meant the family could no longer meet their basic monthly obligations.
Mira is in urgent need of an insulin pump so she can start managing her Type 1 diabetes. The pump will help to regulate her insulin, replacing the pancreas. Instead of cumbersome injections, the pump will automatically adjust insulin delivery and calibrate glucose levels every 5 minutes, 24 hours a day.
Thanks to the Jordanian professional medical solutions and equipment company MediProz, the upscale insulin pump, Medtroni MiniMed 780G Pump, was purchased at a discounted price of 5,500 JOD (discounted from 7,500 JOD).
