BATOUL’S STORY 

Batoul, a 17-year-old girl, has carried the effects of a tragic childhood accident for most of her life.

When she was just 9 years old, an unfortunate incident at school left her with a severe injury to her right eye. Since then, Batoul has undergone several delicate procedures, including lens and corneal transplants, in the hope of restoring her vision.

Despite these efforts, her body rejected the corneal graft, and today she can see only about 20% through that eye. The injury also caused her upper eyelid to droop, further limiting her vision and affecting her confidence.

Batoul now requires upper eyelid correction surgery to improve her vision and daily comfort. Her left eye functions normally but has started to weaken due to the extra strain of compensating for her right eye.

Beyond the physical challenges, Batoul has also faced emotional hardship. She experienced bullying at school because of her condition, which eventually led her to leave her studies. Yet, she continues to dream of returning to education and living life with renewed confidence.
