RAWAN’s STORY

Rawan is 29 years old, and she suffers from very difficult breathing problems due to her dextrocardia. Rawan was born with a congenital defect where her heart is positioned on the right side of the chest instead of its normal position on the left side. This is hindering her breathing properly and clearing phlegm, and she remains in severe, successive asthma attacks. Rawan also suffers from a moderate mental disability, which requires constant care.

Nonetheless, Rawan has a beautiful artistic side, and whenever her health permits, she tries to immerse herself in her works of art, making handicrafts and clay. It’s a way to take out her energy on something she is passionate about.

Rawan lives with her parents in their modest home. Her father is retired and receives a pension that is not enough to cover the living costs and basic expenses that include electricity, water, and rent, in addition to the medication that he and his wife need on a monthly basis.
