BASSAM’S STORY

Bassam, 63 years old, has always been a social and talkative man who loves spending time with family and friends. But today, he often sits in silence, not because he has nothing to say, but because he can no longer hear clearly.

His struggle began when he developed an ear condition that caused swelling and repeated infections, leading to fluid buildup behind the eardrum and gradual hearing loss. A hearing test later confirmed that he suffers from mild to moderate sensorineural hearing loss in both ears.

This loss has made it difficult for Bassam to understand conversations or engage socially, leaving him feeling isolated. He says sadly, “I sit among them, watching them talk and laugh, but I can’t hear their words. I feel distant, even though I’m right there.”
